Should I outsource my ecommerce development to a overseas provider?

The answer to this question is probably not. I have had many customers and heard stories of people who have used overseas providers and were unhappy as the the quality of the work was poor or it took a long time to get it right.

Here are some of the reasons why it happens.

Not truly understanding your website and project goals.
Issues with communication due to poor english skills and extra complexity with communicating remotely.
A lack of business skills and a understanding of on how Australian business operates – just because a developer is skilled in programming does not guarantee that they can provide the functions that you want for your website.
Unable to deliver custom design & development requirements.
Many providers just look at other websites and cut & paste design or code and apply it to your website thinking it will work.
The person who you deal with gives the work to a third party.

The success stories seem to come for small projects (less than $200) and for tasks that are common for that type of website you are using eg install a contribution for a wordpress website.

We recommend that you look for a local provider that suits your budget to give you a better chance of having a successful outcome. Find out how they will work with you on your project and who will be doing the work. Finding a provider who provides good quality work for your budget is essential.
